For the second week in a row, both WVU soccer teams appear in the coaches and major media polls. The women fell in the rankings while the men remained relatively unmoved.
After a devastating 4-0 loss to Duke at home this past Friday, the WVU women’s soccer team (5-2-0) was in danger of falling out of the top 10. The United Soccer Coaches poll ranked them at No. 6 this week, while Top Drawer Soccer put them at No. 8. The Mountaineers did recover for a 3-0 win over Richmond on Sunday.
The women’s team will travel to Princeton this Friday for a 4 p.m. match and then play LaSalle on Sunday at 1 p.m., both in Princeton, N.J.
The men’s soccer team (3-0-2) stayed unbeaten on the season with a 0-0 draw against UCF at home on Saturday. WVU fell out of the top 25 in coaches poll, although they received votes, and fell one spot to No. 24 in the TDS poll.
The Mountaineers will travel to Baltimore for a match against UMBC on Wednesday at 7 p.m. Then, they will take on George Mason on Saturday, September 16, at 7 p.m., in Fairfax, Virginia.
