Following the Mountaineers 56-20 demolition of East Carolina, Will Grier has once again been named the Big 12 Newcomer of the Week. Grier, after his West Virginia debut against the Virginia Tech Hokies where he passed for 371 yards and 3 touchdowns and rushed for another 52 yards, has won the award in consecutive weeks.
Through two games, Will Grier is 10th nationally in passing yards with 723, ahead of both Baker Mayfield of Oklahoma and Mason Rudolph of Oklahoma State. Grier is also 3rd nationally in passing touchdowns, tied with Drew Louck of Mizzou and Nathan Stanley from Iowa.
Grier should have another chance to light up the scoreboard this weekend against FCS foe Delaware State. DSU has not been very good, losers of 13 straight and 34 of their last 37 ballgames. The Hornets will need to decide which wide receiver they want to double cover: Gary Jennings who leads the team with 17 receptions or David Sills, who leads the nation in receiving touchdowns with 5.
