West Virginia Thread Alert: Mountaineers to “Storm” into Landover

To kickoff the 2017 season, the Mountaineers will wear their all-white uniforms.

NCAA Football: West Virginia at Oklahoma Mark D. Smith-USA TODAY Sports

Date: September 3, 2017

Opponent: Virginia Tech Hokies

Threads: Stormtroopers [White Helmet, White Jerseys, White Pants]

Record in Uniform: 3-5

This is the favorite uniform of the Mountaineers since they switched to the latest iteration. These uniforms have been worn a total of eight times since 2013. Unfortunately for West Virginia, they do not have a winning record in these uniforms. The Mountaineers have beaten TCU [2013] and Iowa State [2015 & 2016] in these threads while losing to: Oklahoma (twice), Kansas, Kansas State and Alabama.

The Mountaineers are the visiting team in the September 3rd clash against the Hokies, which is why they will wear the whites. Visually, these are a great look for the team. It isn’t a full all-white uniform that some other teams employ, as the shoulders still have accents of blue. This gives the uniform more of a “stormtrooper” look. In fact, this look has been dubbed the Stormtrooper by fans on social media.

While we travel down memory lane, the all-whites also were in play when Karl Joseph had the single greatest defensive “tackle” in recent memory. Karl killed Dede Westbrook in Norman, Oklahoma wearing the stormtrooper. Here’s to Kyzir White doing the same to Virginia Tech
