West Virginia beat writer Mike Casazza hired by CBS Interactive, joining 247Sports affiliate

The Madness has met the Mania. Two mega powers have aligned, and it just may blow the whole planet up.

We here at The Smoking Musket can report that sources close to Mike Casazza tell us he has been hired by CBS Sports, and will be taking a role with their West Virginia University 247Sports affiliate, Eersports.com. Casazza will be joining West Virginia recruiting guru Chris Anderson at EerSports, and will continue to cover the Mountaineers as he did in his time with the Charleston Gazette-Mail.

With CBS Sports’ recent acquisition of the Scout recruiting network, Anderson found himself heading both EerSports and the former BlueGoldNews, which is now known as Mountaineers Daily. Anderson was left to look for a partner to bring aboard to help with the increased duties, and he may have found the perfect companion in Casazza. The hire will allow Anderson to continue his top-of-the-line recruiting coverage, while our jorts-wearing hero will cover the beat for the Mountaineers.

The move is not unlike the one that was seen nearly 30 years ago in the WWF when Hulk Hogan and “Macho Man” Randy Savage formed one of the most powerful and exciting tag teams.

Clearly, Chris Anderson feels the same way about the move, as referenced below by his recent tweets.

We’re confident that this incarnation of The Mega Powers will work out differently than it did the first time. We’re not sure who is who in this scenario, but we’re positive the world is not ready to see Casazza vs. Anderson at Wrestlemania.
