When the offseason staff changes were finalized and the new coaches planned their scouting trips for the spring recruiting period, no one had circled South Florida on their maps. Once a focal point of West Virginia’s recruiting, the area quickly became more trouble than it was worth in recent years — fewer big plays on the field and more games being played on social media and with their “commitments.”

Columbus, Ohio linebacker Brian Asamoah has no shortage of scholarship offers. The big impact linebacker from St. Francis DeSales High School has numerous offers across the nation, stretching from coast to coast. With such a huge number of schools in pursuit, landing him will be difficult, but West Virginia is one of several that has made an impression on the rising senior.
