Dana Holgorsen and company will be going back to the drawing board to shore up the quarterback roster. Miami Hurricanes backup quarterback Jack Allison has decided to go the junior college route this season, instead of transferring to West Virginia.
The Mountaineers were already down a quarterback after losing Cody Saunders to a nerve problem with his shoulder, and Allison would have been the ideal replacement. Allison would have had to sit out this season due to NCAA transfer rules, but would have been available next season to compete for the starting job, should Will Grier decide to pursue an NFL career after one season at West Virginia. Allison will enroll at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, where he can reopen his recruitment, take his time and make the best choice for his career.
Allison, in theory, could still end up at West Virginia next season, but the Mountaineers will now have to compete with multiple programs for his attention.
