The final 3 1⁄2 innings were not fun for the WVU baseball team.
After going scoreless in the first five innings, the Texas Longhorns (33-19, 10-11 Big 12) mounted a comeback to defeat West Virginia, 6-2.
The Mountaineers (31-21, 11-11 Big 12) scored their two runs on RBI singles by Cole Austin in the second inning and Ivan Gonzalez in the fifth.
BJ Myers got the start and pitched 6 1⁄3 innings allowing five runs (one unearned) on six hits while striking out five batters.
Texas scored on consecutive at-bats in the sixth to tie the game up, then on three consecutive at-bats in the seventh. The exclamation point came in the eighth with a sac fly to left center.
The series will resume tomorrow at 2:00 PM ET.
