West Virginia upsets Real Betis 2-1

The Mountaineers move to 1-1 during their Spanish trip

The WVU men’s soccer game upset Real Betis Balompie’s academy team 2-1 early Saturday morning.

Albert Andres-Llop, a rising sophomore and Spainsh-native, scored the first goal for the Mountaineers in the seventh minute off of a Jad Arslan assist.

Real Betis scored just before halftime to tie the game up.

Steven James, a native of England who had family in attendance, scored the decisive goal off of a corner kick in the second half.

West Virginia finishes their Spanish tour against Malaga C.F. on Tuesday. Kickoff is set for Noon ET.
