After another loss while ranked seventh, West Virginia men’s basketball finds itself at No. 13 in the AP Top 25 Poll and No. 14 in the USA Today Men’s Basketball Coaches Poll.
The Mountaineers (18-5, 6-4) have had terrible luck at the No. 7 spot, losing a game each week they’ve reached that ranking. WVU lost to Oklahoma State last Saturday, its second conference home loss of the season. No. 3 Kansas (20-3, 8-2) and No. 6/8 Baylor (20-3, 7-3) also lost home games that week, so no ground was lost in conference standings.
WVU travels to Norman, Oklahoma, on Wednesday, February 8, to play Oklahoma at 9 p.m., on ESPN2. The Sooners (8-14, 2-8) defeated the Mountaineers in Morgantown 89-87 in OT. WVU then faces Kansas State on Saturday, February 11, at noon, on ESPN. The Mountaineers dropped the first match up with the Wildcats (16-7, 5-5), 79-75. K-State received votes in both polls this week.
