Former West Virginia Mountaineer quarterback Clint Trickett is in the middle of a meteoric rise in the coaching ranks, and just landed his first job as a Division I FBS position coach, according to Chris Vannini of CoachingSearch.com. Trickett will be joining Lane Kiffin at Florida Atlantic, and will be serving as Kiffin’s tight ends coach.

Trickett started his coaching career shortly after graduating from West Virginia University when he accepted the quarterbacks coach role at East Mississippi Community College in Scooba, Mississippi. Trickett spent two seasons with the Lions and was featured on Netflix’s docuseries Last Chance U.
Earlier this month, Trickett announced that he would be leaving East Mississippi to become an offensive graduate assistant for the Alabama Crimson Tide under head coach Nick Saban. That move was obviously short lived as Lane Kiffin came calling this evening after former Florida Atlantic tight ends coach Charlie Weis Jr. left Boca Raton to join the Atlanta Falcons staff.
It may be worth keeping tabs on Trickett’s career progression. You never know when he’ll end up back in the old gold and blue.
