WVU men’s basketball team finds itself back in the top 10 of the AP Top 25 this week. The Mountaineers sit at No. 9 after wins at Oklahoma and Kansas State at home, teams who defeated them earlier in the season.
Now, the Mountaineers (20-5, 8-4) travel to Lawrence, Kansas, to take on No. 3 Kansas. The Jayhawks (22-3, 10-2) have a historically good record in Phogg Allen Fieldhouse, but dropped home contest to Iowa State two weeks ago. WVU defeated KU 85-69 back in January, the second-lowest point total for the Jayhawks on the season.
On Saturday, the NCAA men’s basketball selection committee announced their top 16 seeds as of now. WVU was tabbed as the 14th overall seed, a No. 4 seed in the West Regional. If all holds true, the Mountaineers would face Gonzaga in San Jose. This was the first time the committee has released an in-season look at the tournament bracket.
