Hakeem Bailey has signed his National Letter of Intent and is already enrolled at WVU, after spending time at Iowa Western Community College. Bailey, who was initially in the class of 2015, originally committed to attend Marshall before going the junior college route. Late in the 2015 recruiting cycle, Bailey began to receive interest from a number of SEC programs.
Bailey grew up and attended high school in Mableton, Ga. He possesses ideal size for a corner, listed at 6’1, 180. With Rasul Douglas leaving, there will be an immediate opening at the cornerback position. Hopefully, by getting a full spring of practices under his belt, Hakeem will be ready to step up.
Head coach Dana Holgorsen has had good luck filling out his recruiting classes with quality from the junior college ranks. Additional time with the team and the coaching staff should give Hakeem the head up needed to fit in right off the bat. Bailey seems to have a good nose for the ball and should fit well into Tony Gibson’s defensive system.
Bailey has three years of eligibility remaining, and chose the Mountaineers over Cincinnati and UAB.
