If you don’t know the Wolfley name by now, you will this season. Maverick Wolfley is the son of former offensive line and current Coordinator of the WVU Varsity Club, Dale Wolfley. He is the brother of former WVU tight end Stone Wolfley and the nephew of fullback Ron Wolfley. The family ties run old gold and blue in the Wolfley household.

Maverick made state headlines as the first freshman to be offered a scholarship by head coach Dana Holgorsen.

Maverick Wolfley, a freshman linebacker/running back at Morgantown High School, committed to the Mountaineers this weekend within hours of receiving an offer from coach Dana Holgorsen.

“(Holgorsen) told me how I was the first freshman he’s ever offered, so it was kind of a special thing,” “I accepted it immediately. It’s a dream come true.” - Keenan Cummings of WVSports.com

Though he played fullback for the Morgantown Mohigans, Wolfley figures to be a linebacker for the Mountaineers. Recruited by defensive coordinator Tony Gibson, Wolfley has the size and instincts to play inside linebacker in the 3-3-5.

Wolfley has already enrolled at WVU and will look to join Brendan Ferns, Sean Walters, Xavier Preston, Logan Thimons and Zach Sandwisch on the field next season.
