The West Virginia Mountaineers knocked off the Virginia Cavaliers tonight at the WVU Coliseum, extending their winning streak to eight games and giving them their second consecutive win over the Hoos.
The Mountaineers jumped out to an early 7-0 lead to start the game, but the Cavaliers would come charging back to take the lead halfway through the first half. West Virginia took a 29-26 lead into the half, and started the first four minutes of the second half the same way they started the game.
The two teams traded the lead eight times throughout the game, but Lamont West’s eight points in three minutes created enough separation down the stretch to allow the Mountaineers to hold off Virginia.
