It was far from a thing of beauty, but #10 WVU (10-1) muscled past winless Coppin State 77 to 38 for their tenth straight win in their penultimate non-conference game of the season.
After a slow start, in which both teams struggled to find the basket WVU pulled away with 22-1 run late in the first half, sparked by Teddy Allen’s four-point play. Allen went on to score game and career high 24 points and 9 rebounds.
Daxter Miles provided the only other real highlight of a low-scoring game when he became the 52nd Mountaineer in school history to record 1,000 points, sinking a wide-open three in the early minutes of the second half.
WVU improved to 3-0 all time versus Coppin State and 17-0 all time against teams in the MEAC.
Up Next: WVU hosts Atlantic 10 foe Fordham on Saturday, December 23, 2017 at noon from the Coliseum.
