The 2017 Women’s College Cup will be held at Orlando City Stadium in Orlando. If successful, WVU will host every match until the College Cup. The Mountaineers could face a rematch with either Penn State or Georgetown in the national quarterfinals. WVU opened the season with a 1-0 win over Georgetown and defeated Penn State 2-1. WVU is in the same half of the bracket as overall No. 1 seed Stanford.

Despite not winning a conference trophy for the first time in since joining the Big 12 (and even the final two years in the Big East), WVU remained a top-10 team for most of the season. In the final Top Drawer Soccer poll, WVU was ranked No. 10.
A total of five Big 12 teams earned berths to the NCAA tournament. Texas earned a No. 4 seed while regular-season champs Oklahoma State, tournament champs TCU and tournament runners-up Baylor also make up the 64-team bracket.
