The Smoking Musket Pick ‘Em Gauntlet is an online college pick ‘em game where we will try to pick the winners of the weekly Big 12 contests plus Yahoo! editors' selected games (usually the games involving the top 25 teams). We do pick against the spread (when available). There are usually 20-30 games to pick each week and each correct pick is worth one point. The winner (excluding Musket staff) will be the person at the end of the regular season who has the most correct picks/points. Points are cumulative, so don't worry if you happen to miss a week or two. We will award the winner a WVU Nike T-shirt at the conclusion of the games in December.
All participants are subject to the Official Rules as determined by SB Nation.
Our game, as in the past, will be hosted by Yahoo! Fantasy. GAME LINK
Our first Pick'Em Gauntlet group has filled up but don't worry, we've set up a second group for those who haven't joined yet. People in the second group will still be competing against those in the first group.
League ID: 10804
We have 26 games to pick this week, starting with the official Group of 5 team of The Smoking Musket taking on that other team from West Virginia tonight at 6:00PM ET and continuing through Pac12 After Dark on Saturday night/Sunday morning. Deadline for each pick is 5 minutes before kickoff.
Here are the leaders after week 9. Congratulations to GTENNANT winning the week with 14 correct picks. All you win for this is kudos, but it bump you up to the top 3.
Also, someone needs to dethrone Kirchner because we’re afraid his success is going to go to his head and he’ll demand a pay raise.

Iowa State is for real but they aren't great on 3rd down. If West Virginia is able to get a few stops on 3rd down and not drop the ball, they can win this game but it won't be easy.
West Virginia 24 - Iowa State 20
Iowa State is going to do a fantastic job of slowing down the game, so West Virginia is going to have to make the best of their opportunities. That's not been their forte in the past few weeks, but I think this will be a hungry team that comes out with the win.
West Virginia 28 - Iowa State 21
RIOT BOWL!!!! For the first time, the game will live up to it's name with both teams doing well. ISU's defense has been playing amazing football and has capitalized on TCU and OU mistakes. WVU can't make those same turnover mistakes if they expect to #DefendTheCan.
West Virginia 31 - Iowa State 24
Uugghh.... Last weekend can go right to hell. I’m frustrated that I sat out in the rain for several hours to now still be frustrated and burnt out nearly a week later. We need a win. A big win. All the questions about this team’s toughness this week are warranted and the sum total of this line of questioning is meant to produce one thing: anger. I think WVU plays angry this weekend. I think Matt Campbell’s team is riding as high as anyone in the country coming off a monster win over TCU. I think West Virginia steals the momentum and finally plays a complete game because nobody likes to be called soft and lose two in a row when the season is still very salvageable. I think the offense returns to form and the defense plays with a mountain-sized chip on their shoulder.
West Virginia 35 - Iowa State 20
I don't know. Kempt has given the team a boost. Not so much with eye popping numbers. But with not turning the ball over and letting the defense do it's thing. We'll have to find a way to put pressure on him. And shit man, Iowa scored 44 points on them!! We can't be a high octane offense and be out performed by Iowa.
West Virginia 45 - Iowa State 42
This is a huge game for both teams as they move forward. I expect Iowa State to lead at halftime by two possessions. I think Will Grier will bounce back, from what was probably the worst game of his college career, and lead the Mountaineers to a solid, comeback win over the Cyclones.
West Virginia 48 - Iowa State 34
Iowa State’s defense is good enough to ruin your day, and they’ll come close to doing it on Saturday. West Virginia wins after Will Grier leads the Mountaineers down the field in the fourth quarter to take the lead, and #TheCan remains with its rightful owners.
