The Smoking Musket Pick ‘Em Gauntlet is an online college pick ‘em game where we will try to pick the winners of the weekly Big 12 contests plus Yahoo! editors' selected games (usually the games involving the top 25 teams). We do pick against the spread (when available). There are usually 20-30 games to pick each week and each correct pick is worth one point. The winner (excluding Musket staff) will be the person at the end of the regular season who has the most correct picks/points. Points are cumulative, so don't worry if you happen to miss a week or two. We will award the winner a WVU Nike T-shirt at the conclusion of the games in December.
All participants are subject to the Official Rules as determined by SB Nation.
Our game, as in the past, will be hosted by Yahoo! Fantasy. GAME LINK
Our first Pick'Em Gauntlet group has filled up but don't worry, we've set up a second group for those who haven't joined yet. People in the second group will still be competing against those in the first group.

We have 27 games to pick this week, starting tonight at 10:30 with Stanford vs. Washington and continuing through Pac12 After Dark on Saturday night/Sunday morning. Deadline for each pick is 5 minutes before kickoff.
Here are the leaders after week 9. Congratulations to MrJuiceMan and Cellyson84 winning the week with 16 correct picks. All you win for this is kudos.
Also, someone needs to dethrone Kirchner because we’re afraid his success is going to go to his head and he’ll demand a pay raise.

WVU keeps the train on the tracks and gets a road win against the Wizard. Grier gets his 9th 300 yard passing game and Crawford just manages to break 100 yards in the ground.

KSt is the perfect nemesis for Jake Spavital. The Wildcats are #10 in rush D, allowing only 114 yards/game, which means this game is going to be on Will Grier's right arm. If the weather is as predicted (60 and rainy), will that hamper the team like it did against Oklahoma State? WVU hasn't been good this year when ranked, can they finally get the mojo working?

I hate Kansas State week. It's always tough, and I think we'll see a very similar game to last week, and we'll have to make good with limited possessions, and understand that we'll need a bend but don't break defensive performance. The ISU win gives me confidence that we can do that again.

The Snydercats. Essentially, give legend Bill Snyder a pocket knife, a role of duct tape and an apple and he’ll build you a winning football team. If Iowa State is the iron bowl, then Kansas State is the migraine bowl. My prediction for this week is exceptionally useless, because K-State could line up in a wing T with their second string tight end under center and still string together a win. Manhattan in November is a riskey proposition, but West Virginia has discovered its tough bone and Jesse Ertz was two quarterbacks ago. However, I don’t anticipate this to be a blowout of any kind. Iowa State vol. 2, if you will. Look for the cats to keep this one interesting until Will Grier puts the game out of reach in the fourth quarter.
West Virginia 30 - Kansas State 24

Love Snyder. Hate playing him. His team is like Kryptonite for fun offensive football. Saturday won't do anything to change my mind.
West Virginia 3 - Kansas State 2.5

As much as I think we should win this game, I feel much less confident. The numbers put this game at almost the slimmest of margins, which makes a lot of sense. I think WVU is able to hit some deep TDs while K State is able to gobble up yards on the ground. Ultimately, I think WVU holds on late.
West Virginia 35 - Kansas State 31

The WVU offense has been on the decline and the team as a whole can't seem to put four quarters together. This will be a tough road game for the Mountaineers, but it could help build some momentum moving forward. I predict the WVU defense will hold the Wildcats to enough field goals to help the Mountaineers escape with a win.
West Virginia 24 - Kansas State 19

WVU defense confuses 3rd string QB starter and the offense does enough.

Kansas State isn’t the Kansas State we are used to seeing. They’re scoring points, but they’re also giving up points. West Virginia wins this won, and for the first time in over a month I won’t be breathing into a paper bag during the final minutes of the game.
West Virginia 35 - Kansas State 24

West Virginia finds itself in yet another barn burner but in this game, they pull out the W.
