In front of 5,174 fans at the WVU Coliseum, West Virginia schooled Albany, 98-67, in a charity exhibition on Saturday night.

Lamont West led the way with 26 points. Beetle Bolden followed with 16. Jevon Carter and freshman Teddy Allen picked up 15.

Wesley Harris, who started at forward over Maciej Bender and Logan Routt, led the team in rebounds with eight.

Travis Charles led Albany with 15 points and seven rebounds.

As a team, WVU shot 29-71 (13-35 from beyond the arc) and beat the rebound battle against the Great Danes 46-37.

“We shot way too many threes,” WVU coach Bob Huggins said. “We shot 35 threes. More than half of our shots were threes. That’s not a formula for success.”

The game raised $27,139.56 for the American Red Cross hurricane relief effort.

The Mountaineers kick off the regular season on Fri., Nov. 10 at the Armed Forces Classic in Germany against Texas A&M. Tip is set for 6 p.m. on ESPN.
