The homecoming, Stripe The Stadium game against Texas Tech will be a noon affair for the West Virginia Mountaineers. The game will be televised on ESPNU and available for streaming through the WatchESPN app.
This will be the Mountaineers first Big 12 home game of the season as they started Big 12 conference play on the road, first with a win over the Kansas Jayhawks before traveling to Fort Worth, Texas to take on the TCU Horned Frogs in a ESPN College Gameday extravaganza.
The Mountaineers lost their first two games against the Texas Tech Red Raiders in 2012 and 2013 before finally beating the Red Raiders on a Josh Lambert field goal in 2014. Since 2014, Tony Gibson’s 3-3-5 defense has slowed down the Kliff Kingsbury offense and the scoring differential has gotten progressively worse. Kingsbury is 1-3 against West Virginia as a head coach, despite having an offense that has ranked in the top 5 the last few years.
The Big 12 home opener against Texas Tech has been designated as this year's "Stripe The Stadium." Fans in even numbered sections, upper deck student sections and Touchdown Terrace are to wear gold. Fans in odd sections and lower deck student sections are to wear blue. CLICK HERE for a Stripe Map.
