- West Virginia leads the all-time series with a 4-2 record. The Mountaineers beat the Red Raiders last year in Lubbock, 48-17
- West Virginia is in the middle of a losing streak to ranked teams. After beating #4 Baylor on October 18, 2014 the Mountaineers have now lost 9 straight games to teams inside the Top 25. Today’s game will provide the Mountaineers a good chance to break that streak.
- The Red Raiders come into today’s game with the third best passing offense in the country. The big story this season for Texas Tech, however, is their improvement on defense. The Red Raiders are currently only giving up 28 points per game, on average, compared to the 44 points they gave up just a year ago.
- VegasInsiders.com lists the Mountaineers as a 3.5 point favorite over Texas Tech, with the over/under set at 73.5 points.
