After handing Baylor their first defeat of the season and surviving a road trip to Austin, the West Virginia Mountaineers (15-2, 4-1) are up to number 7 in the AP Top 25. West Virginia is ranked number 8 in the Coaches Poll. The Mountaineers are tied with Creighton (17-1,4-1) for 7th in the AP with 1,185 votes each.

West Virginia will take on Oklahoma on Wednesday before traveling to Manhattan to play Kansas State on Saturday. Oklahoma, reeling from the loss of sensational senior Buddy Hield to the NBA Draft, has not been able to generate the same buzz as last year. Oklahoma is 7-9 this year and only 1-4 in conference play.

The Mountaineers remain one of three Big 12 teams ranked. Kansas continues its dominance and is ranked #2 while Baylor, despite the loss to West Virginia, comes in ahead of the Mountaineers at #6.
