Well...glad that’s over.
West Virginia went into Austin, Texas and squeaked by the Texas Longhorns, 74-72, in a very ugly game Saturday evening.
The Mountaineers (15-2) had three guys in double figures. Teyvon Myers (16), Jevon Carter (15), and Tarik Phillip (14). Nathan Adrian led WVU in rebounds with 6.
Texas (7-10) hung around by beating the Mountaineers at their own game. The Longhorns scored 19 points off of 15 West Virginia turnovers.
Texas also out-rebounded the Mountaineers 22-10 off of the West Virginia offensive glass, limiting WVU to score only 11 second chance points.
The only thing that can be said about WVU’s performance that looks positive coming from this game is that the Mountaineers went 22 for 32 (68.8%) from the free throw line, which is their best shooting percentage from the charity stripe since their blowout win at Oklahoma State on Dec. 30.
The game could easily be wrapped up by a quote by Bob Huggins following the win:
Bob Huggins on #WVU win: "It was a hard game to play, a hard game to coach, a hard game to watch."

Jarrett Allen led all scorers with 19 points for Texas. The Longhorns’ resident Steph Curry-impersonator, Andrew Jones, fouled out with 3:23 remaining and finished with 17 points and 3 rebounds.
The Mountaineers return to action on Wednesday when they will host the Oklahoma Sooners. Tip is set for 7:00 PM ET on ESPN2.
