WVU establishes 1-2 punch with Shell, Crawford | Charleston Gazette-Mail
When Youngstown State visits WVU at Milan Puskar Stadium this coming Saturday, it’ll be coming off a 45-10 win over Duquesne. It’s safe to say, however, West Virginia’s new one-two running punch of Rushel Shell and Justin Crawford will provide a much stiffer test for YSU, led by former Nebraska coach Bo Pelini.
West Virginia notebook: Junior tackle McKivitz rises to occasion against Missouri | Pittsburgh Tribune-Review
One of the major storylines heading into West Virginia's season opener with Missouri was how the Mountaineers offensive line would handle Missouri's big, talented defensive front, which includes potential first-round pick Charles Harris at defensive end. The challenge became more dire when left tackle Yodny Cajuste, the man tasked with keeping up with the lightning-quick Harris, went down with an injury.
West Virginia Athletics:
No. 4 WVU Hands No. 19 OSU First Loss of Season | WVU Athletics
Pressed to find a second goal with only 20 minutes remaining in regulation, the No. 4-ranked West Virginia University women’s soccer team’s attack answered the challenge, as Hannah Abraham’s header in the 77th minute pushed the Mountaineers to a 2-1 victory over No. 19 Ohio State Sunday night in front of 1,763 fans at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium.

Opening day atmosphere impresses WVU football recruits | Charleston Gazette-Mail
The West Virginia Mountaineers hosted Missouri on Saturday and took care the Tigers. The visitors put up some yards and a few points against the second-team defense to make the score seem closer than it actually was, but the strong impression on WVU recruits in attendance was already made.

Oklahoma can get back in playoff mix, but first must fix some issues | ESPN
The Oklahoma Sooners know better than most that a single loss doesn’t necessarily doom a season. After all, they rebounded from a seemingly disastrous defeat to Texas last October to surge into the College Football Playoff.
Texas settles QB battle, wins with both Buechele, Swoopes | ESPN
A suggestion for Texas' coaching staff when they get back to the office Monday morning: update the depth chart. No more 'OR' at quarterback. It doesn't really do this situation justice. The right way to define it: Shane Buechele AND Tyrone Swoopes.
A month ago, Charlie Strong said beating Notre Dame would change Texas. Then he did it. | SBNation
If Strong brings the Longhorns all the way back, Sunday’s going to stand out for a long time.
