No. 6 West Virginia Women’s Soccer Faces Off With No. 8 Clemson Tonight In Morgantown

It’s a top 10 showdown in Motown as Nikki Izzo-Brown’s Mountaineers square off with the Tigers, AND IT'S DOLLAR NIGHT!

The No. 6 ranked West Virginia University women’s soccer team kicks off their home opener weekend tonight at 7PM at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium against the No. 8 ranked Clemson Tigers.

Head coach Nikki Izzo-Brown is anticipating a great game this evening, and wants to see the current attendance record shattered.

"We are seeking any competitive edge we can get, and knowing the energy level our fans can provide, I am asking all our fans to come out Friday night and cheer us on in our home opener. I’m always bragging about our fan base, and I’m hoping they’ll have our back this weekend." - Nikki Izzo-Brown

This will mark the first time the Mountaineer women’s soccer team has met the Clemson Tigers, and they have their work cut out for them. Clemson features one of the best goalkeepers in the nation, and a lot of youth national team talent. Fortunately for the Mountaineers, Olympic bronze medalists, and All-Americans, Kadeisha Buchanan and Ashley Lawrence are back in Morgantown with their squad.

Tonight’s match is a Gold Rush game, and fans are encouraged to wear gold. Fans will receive this year’s women’s soccer schedule poster, as well. It’s also Dollar Night, and all tickets, small drinks, popcorn and Skittles will be available for $1. Tickets, as always, are free to West Virginia University students with a valid student ID, and prior to the game the Mountaineer Maniacs will host a tailgate with free Qdoba for everyone in attendance.

If you’re free this evening, there’s absolutely no excuse to not be in attendance for this top 10 showdown and to support our national powerhouse women’s soccer team.
