Senior defensive end Larry Jefferson was arrested on the morning of July 26. He was found with small amount of marijuana and cocaine.

An officer stopped Jefferson on Clay Street around 10 a.m. Tuesday morning. The officer, investigating a weapons brandishing incident, stated he could he smell marijuana. Jefferson told the officer he had the drug on him.

Jefferson handed over approximately 1 gram of marijuana and 0.6 grams of cocaine, according to his criminal complaint.

Jefferson, 23, is a redshirt senior this year. He played in 9 games last year, registering 2 tackles, both in the win over rival Maryland. Jefferson enrolled at WVU after spending two years at Itawamba (Miss.) Community College.

Head Coach Dana Holgorsen has not released a statement. Jefferson was previously suspended in the spring for violation of team rules.

Jefferson's arrest follows Donte Thomas-Williams release from the team back in May for a violation of team rules.
