The Logo is returning to West Virginia University on Monday and will be giving his championship ring, along with other personal artifacts, to the school and state that meant so much to him.

Welcome, By-Godders, to the Shotgun/Throwdown: WVU's best place for sports links, information, sophomoric humor and daily distractions.

News Of Note

Football:

West Virginia is experiencing a slight dip in season ticket sales from last season's totals but an increase in the amount of mini-packages being sold for the 2016 season.

Basketball:

Jerry West spent much of his Hall of Fame National Basketball Association career in quest of a championship ring. It nearly became an obsession with West Virginia University's greatest player, going to the championship game nine times before finally winning one in 1972. And now West is making a gift of that treasured ring, along with many other personal artifacts, to the state that meant so much to him and to which he has meant so much, highlighting this year's West Virginia Day celebration.

Baseball:

Randy Mazey is down one signee for next season as switch-hitting high school shortstop/outfielder Jordan Scott, the gem of West Virginia's 2017 baseball recruiting class, signed with the New York Yankees on Thursday, according to multiple media reports.

Underclassmen Ray Guerrini will forego his Senior season and has signed a deal with the Seattle Mariners, and Senior pitcher Ross Vance signed a free-agent deal with the St. Louis Cardinals.

Around The League

Around The Big XII:

Fired Baylor coach Art Briles is ripping his former employer, accusing the school of wrongful termination and indicating he has no interest in settling a federal lawsuit filed against him and the university by a woman who was raped by a football player.

Speaking of the Bears, three more women filed a federal civil rights lawsuit against Baylor University on Wednesday, saying the school did nothing to help them after they reported being sexually assaulted on or near campus.

Around The NCAA:

North Carolina turned potential into reality, taking Clemson to the limit in the ACC title game. If the Heels' new QB and a thin secondary hold up, they could win their second straight Coastal title.
