Spur safety K.J. Dillon spent a lot of his time at West Virginia in the shadow of fellow standout safety Karl Joseph but thanks to the Senior Bowl and a great showing at the NFL Combine that issue may be no more. NFL Draft analyst Mike Mayock even knows the talent the young safety possesses as he recently put him in his top 5 at the position.
Dillon had a monstrous Senior Bowl week. He was seen blowing up plays in the backfield, breaking up passes and blocking kicks on game day.
The Florida native then completed phase two of the process when he ran a 4.53 in the 40 yard dash and recorded a 121" broad jump at the NFL Combine. Dillon also excelled at ball skill drills and his showing of footwork.
"He will put his face in the fan," said NFL Network analyst Bucky Brooks. "All he wants is contact. He's one of those guys."
Dillon, known for playing the ball, had 2 interceptions and 8 pass breakups during his senior season. KJ is expected to be a late day two or early day three draft selection.
Mike Mayock has a list of top 5 safeties that includes former WVU safety Karl Joseph coming in at number two.
1. Jalen Ramsey, Florida State
2. Karl Joseph, West Virginia
3. Vonn Bell, Ohio State
4. Miles Killebrew, Southern Utah
5. K.J. Dillon, West Virgina
