Once A Mountaineer, Always A Mountaineer, a campaign focused on bringing together Morgantown children with their favorite Mountaineers while promoting a healthy and sustainable lifestyle, will host its annual "Day of Play," Sunday, March 6th, from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. at the Caperton Indoor Facility.  With the assistance of former fan favorite WVU alumni that have now spent time in the NFL, Once A Mountaineer, Always A Mountaineer allows children age 6-12 from the Morgantown community to bond with former West Virginia players by learning tips and tricks for staying healthy.

Children spend the afternoon making memories of a lifetime by partaking in fun games, learning healthy facts, and are sent home with a T-shirt, a group photo and healthy snacks. Before the event, WVU alumni will also spend time visiting the young patients within the WVU Medicine Children's from 11-1 p.m.

Once a Mountaineer Day of Play

To show their love for the University and the home atmosphere the Mountain State can provide, some former Mountaineers and NFL players in attendance including Super Bowl Champion Seattle Seahawks linebacker Bruce Irvin, former Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Terence Garvin, Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Najee Goode, Tampa Bay Buccaneers safety Keith Tandy, Cincinnati Bengals defensive end Will Clarke, former Cincinnati Bengals running back Quincy Wilson and former San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Rasheed Marshall. Irvin and other WVU alumni NFL players volunteered their time for the project that also raised money for the United Way. It is always appreciated when former players take time out of their professional lives to return to the place they once called home during college and interact with children who will remain Mountaineer fans for a lifetime.
