Four Mountaineers scored in double figures as WVU picked up the easy win in Charleston against Western Carolina.
Esa Ahmad had arguably the best performance for West Virginia with 14 points and 8 rebounds. Jevon Carter had 13, Elijah Macon had 11 and Teyvon Myers had 10.
Lamont West led the freshmen in scoring with 7 points and Sagaba Konate led the freshmen in rebounds with 4.
Western Carolina was taken out of the game early as WVU jumped out to a 30-5 lead during the first 10:11 in the first half.
WVU continued their heavy press, scoring 37 points off of 34 Catamount turnovers.
The Mountaineers also improved from the charity stripe going 22-31 throughout the game for 71%. WVU also shot 45 points off the bench and scored 17 second chance points off of 13 offensive rebounds.
West Virginia returns to action on Saturday when they will host another Southern Conference team in VMI. Tip is set for 2 PM on ROOT Sports Pittsburgh.
