Arizona State. 2015. The end of the bowl season saw Skyler Howard, dressed in a blue helmet, white jersey and blue pants throw for a Cactus Bowl record 532 yards and 5 touchdowns as the Mountaineers beat the Todd Graham-led Sun Devils 43-42 to complete an 8-win season for Dana Holgorsen. The Mountaineers will once again don the Blue/White/Blue uniforms for their 2016 Russell Athletic Bowl tilt against the Miami Hurricanes.
This uniform combination will counter Miami’s white tops, hunter orange jerseys and white pants. They’ll continue to wear the worst flavor of Starburst on their cleats (orange). Hopefully the WVU defense is not blinded by the hideous neon orange while on the field.
This will be the fourth time that West Virginia has donned this combination. It first debuted against Maryland in 2013 in the disaster that was 37-0. It did not reappear until Baylor 2015. WVU finally overcame the losses in the Cactus Bowl to finish off 2015.
