The West Virginia Mountaineers will conclude their 2016 regular season with the Baylor Bears on Saturday. The team will wear what I consider to be the best looking uniforms: blue helmets, blue jerseys and white pants. I know this isn’t the traditional blue/blue/yellow that defines the Mountaineers but the visual for me is so much better.
This will be the second time the Mountaineers have worn this specific uniform combination this year and their fifth time since the new uniforms debuted. West Virginia is 3-1 with these uniforms, averaging over 37 points per game with this combination.
This will be the second time WVU has worn this combination against Baylor. The last time was the last home game against Baylor, back in 2014 when Tony Gibson declared West Virginia’s 3-3-5 was scared of no one and was going to make life difficult for Big 12 teams.
In 2014, behind an efficient Clint Trickett and emerging superstar in Kevin White, the Mountaineers shocked Baylor 41-27. It would be the only loss for the Bears in the regular season and helped keep Baylor and the Big 12 out of the initial College Football Playoffs. 2014 also marked the second time that West Virginia beat Baylor in Morgantown.
