West Virginia’s leading rusher, Rushel Shell, will be sidelined today against the Kansas Jayhawks, according to WVIllustrated’s Geoff Coyle.
Dana Holgorsen tells me #WVU RB Rushel Shell will sit out tonight's game with an ankle. Crawford, McKoy and Wellman will handle ground game.— Geoff Coyle (@GFCoyle) November 5, 2016
The move to keep Shell out today is likely precautionary with West Virginia’s schedule getting tougher down the stretch, starting next week in Austin against the Texas Longhorns. Shell injured his ankle in the first half of last week’s loss to the Oklahoma State Cowboys in Stillwater, and didn’t return after halftime.
Justin Crawford, Kennedy McKoy and Elijah Wellman will handle the ground game against the perennial basement-dwelling Kansas Jayhawks.
