The West Virginia Mountaineers will use a uniform combination they have used in the past as they prepare for their night game against the Kansas Jayhawks. The Mountaineers will don: White Helmets, Blue Jerseys and Blue Pants. The team has worn this combination at least twice before, both times against the Texas Longhorns.
In 2013, in a night game in Morgantown, Dana Holgorsen broke out this new uniform combination with a twist. The 2013 game against the Longhorns marked the debut of the “throwback” helmets. The team originally came out in their True Blue uniforms but returned to the locker room and came back out with brand new throwback helmets.
In 2015, the Mountaineers used the same uniform combination and throwback helmet to defeat the Longhorns 38-20. It is not known if the Mountaineers will wear their throwback helmets for Kansas. The Mountaineers have typically waited for their last home game of the year to wear the throwback, or for the “biggest” opponent late on the schedule.
Against Kansas, the Mountaineers will be looking to get back into the win column against a team that has 42-game road losing streak. The last time the Jayhawks beat a team on the road was September 12, 2009 when they defeated Texas El-Paso. Last year, in Lawrence, Kansas, the Mountaineers shut out the Jayhawks 49-0.
