“The Pride of West Virginia” will be performing during the 90th Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade Thursday morning. The Mountaineer Marching Band is schedule to perform at the traditional 34th Street stop at 9:50 a.m., and can be seen on NBC. Mountaineers across the world will be able to watch and hear the band perform “Strike Up the Band” followed by Country Roads as the band exits the TV spotlight.

For those who were in attendance during halftime of the WVU-Oklahoma football game on Saturday, you saw the performance of for the first time. As the only collegiate marching band of the 10 selected this year, The Mountaineer Marching Band had their drums already decked for the occasion on Saturday night as they played in a snowy, blustery Milan Puskar Stadium.

Band members had a couple days of rest before traveling to Manhattan on Tuesday morning. The parade performance will be the their third performance in a week for The Pride, who also played in Wheeling on Friday, November 18.

The reason our band is able to travel to these shows is in large part due to The Pride Travel Fund, a branch of the WVU Foundation. I would like to give a shoutout to my WVU Alumni Association Peach State Chapter for its $500 donation specifically for travel costs for the Thanksgiving Day parade. I’d like to also ask all By-Godders to contribute and help the band travel to whichever bowl game WVU attends this season.
