Senior kicker Josh Lambert is no longer a part of the West Virginia football team. Mountaineer head coach Dana Holgorsen confirmed the rumors that had began to circulate around social media today in his weekly press conference.

Offering “no further comment” on the issue, Holgorsen wished Lambert luck in his future and thanked him for what he has done for the Mountaineer football team in his time in Morgantown.

Lambert was suspended for the first three games of the season due to a violation of the Big 12 Conference’s eligibility rules. Lambert returned from suspension in the Kansas State, and missed his first field goal attempt since West Virginia’s Cactus Bowl win over the Arizona State Sun Devils.

Holgorsen said Mike Molina will handle the kicking duties for the Mountaineers going forward, noting Molina gives the coaching staff the most confidence in his abilities over freshman kicker Jonn Young, who is currently redshirting this season.
