Defensive end Reese Donahue is officially a West Virginia Mountaineer. The Ona, West Virginia native has been committed since February and was an early enrollee. He joins Dylan Tonkery as the only West Virginians in the class. He did not waste any time making his pledge to the Mountaineers, committing one day after Head Coach Dana Holgorsen offered him a scholarship. He was the fourth commit in the 2016 class.
Donahue, at 6'5 and 245 pounds, is the 69th ranked defensive end according to scout. He helped lead Cabell Midland to a 12-1 season that ended in the AAA semifinals with a loss to WVU commit Tyrhee Pratt and Capital.
The Mountaineers are thin on the defensive line and could use an instant impact player. If Donahue puts on the necessary weight to deal with Big 12 offensive linemen, he could have a shot at some early playing time.
