Dylan Tonkery is officially a West Virginia Mountaineer. Tonkery, a 6'0 195 lb. safety, was an early enrollee and is already on campus.

Tonkery is a native of Bridgeport, West Virginia and is the younger brother of former Mountaineer Wes Tonkery. He was the third commit in the class and gave the Mountaineers his pledge almost as soon as he was offered. He has been committed since December 2014. Tonkery is one of two in-state commits, joining Reese Donahue of Cabell Midland.

Tonkery played running back at Bridgeport High School, where he ran for 315 yards in the state championship game to give his school back-to-back AA state championships.

Tonkery is likely to be a redshirt this season, but with a need at safety it's not out of the question for him to earn some playing time in his first season in Morgantown.
