WVU running backs love teaming up | The Dominion Post
West Virginia’s backfield operates its own variant of the age-old "running back by committee" approach. Unique is the fact that in some instances, the committee’s deciding vote is cast by exactly two members — ball carriers Wendell Smallwood and Rushel Shell.
Holgorsen, team prepares for second game against Liberty | The Daily Athenaeum
Spirits are high for the West Virginia football team following its huge win Saturday. Holgorsen sees room for improvement on special teams | Charleston Gazette-Mail
His defense shut down 2014’s top-ranked rushing offense on the way to shutting out Georgia State. His offense finally capitalized on turnovers and scoring opportunities to put up 28 points in the second half of Saturday’s 44-0 win. West Virginia coach Dana Holgorsen has thus moved his attention to another area as the Mountaineers prepare for Saturday’s 3 p.m. home game against Liberty.
WVU QB Howard laments rare misfires in blowout victory | Pittsburgh Tribune-Review

Barber reportedly back to practice after shoulder ‘popped out’ | WV MetroNews

Former Mountaineer Will Johnson makes it back with Liberty | Charleston Gazette-Mail
Will Johnson caught one pass for 7 yards last week, and the Flames offense is more to his liking. He said he has nothing against the Mountaineers and wants people to know "there are no hard feelings toward anybody there," but that he decided to transfer to find a situation like the one he’s in now. Johnson didn’t play at all for WVU in 2013.
Liberty's Gill has similarities to WVU legend | The Exponent Telegram
In a way, there will be a couple of football ghosts on the field Saturday when Liberty comes to Milan Puskar Stadium to face the West Virginia Mountaineers. One will be the ghost of Pat White, a remnant of WVU football past. The other ghost is one named Turner Gill, who is something of an active football ghost in that he will be patrolling the sidelines for Liberty as its head coach.
