Welcome back to the Retweet. I'll be stepping out of my basketball twitter-sphere zone of comfort to break down some of the biggest stories hot slogan takes that went down on Day One of Big 12 Media Days.
The Big 12: Every Game Matters. "Because when you have a chance to steal the slogan of a defunct postseason format, you do it."
— David Ubben (@davidubben) July 20, 2015
The Big 12 paid someone an outrageous amount of money to move on from the "One True Champion" fiasco. This is what we ended up with.
AND WE STILL HAVE ONE TRUE CHAMPION.
Let's move on. Let's talk about some football teams and stuff.
Can't wait to start #TalkinBoutTheClones.

Oh god, this is the worst thing I've ever written.
Patterson expectations: Last year you had to prove people wrong, this year you have to prove people right.
— Ben Kercheval (@BenKercheval) July 20, 2015
Okay, I'm going to start this with big, giant capital letters saying that I AM NOT COMPARING 2015 TCU WITH 2012 WEST VIRGINIA. THEY ARE 800 TIMES BETTER AND WOULD BEAT THAT TEAM BY NINE TRILLION POINTS. OKAY.
But this quote made me think about that team. That 2011 WVU team was Holgo's first, and won a BCS game in a way that proved people wrong in the most hilarious, "let's still make Clemson jokes during the 2015 Women's World Cup Final" kind of ways. The 2012 team was the team that had to prove everyone right, and everything was going smoothly until we ran into a dirt storm in Lubbock and everyone died and no one talks about anything else that happened #SinceTexas because no you lost to Syracuse in a baseball stadium.
But, seriously, good luck Frogs. I like you guys, and it sucks to be the team that can't prove everyone right.
Was introduced to @WVUfootball's Tyler Orlosky. Started following him last year. Really good player. One of best centers in country.
— Gil Brandt (@Gil_Brandt) July 20, 2015
Get money, Tyler. In all seriousness, a good season could put Orlosky into early Day Two consideration in 2016.
KANSAS REDACTED
Dana Holgorsen says this year's defense could be best defense he's been around, not just at #WVU, but ever....

Wow. Faster than Tavon Austin AND Tyron Carrier is blazing fast. https://t.co/W9kWZQhk0T

Okay.
Holgo went hard with the hyperbole yesterday. We can't beat around the bush with that. But, let's talk about this a little bit.
Holgo has been around some baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa (deep breath) aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa (deep breath) aaaaaaaaaaaaaad defenses.
AUTHOR'S NOTE: Was going to put a GIF of that TCU touchdown in the middle here, so you're all welcome because I couldn't find one.
This year's unit is going to be led by veteran playmakers, which has always been a big harbinger of a great WVU defense. There was totally a Casteel Cycle of awful defenses that grew into something amazing when they were all seniors, and we may be getting that this year and that would be awesome.
While the defense thing may be true, the Shelton Gibson part is a lot of hopeful thinking, in my opinion. I'm super pumped about seeing him finally hit the top of a depth chart, but that's some extremely heavy praise and if he can be half of that, we're pretty damn good at WR again.

So we can only be serious about Media Days for so long, so let's all congratulate Kliff for regaining Dreamiest Big 12 Person due to the end of Clint Trickett's reign.
Trevone Boykin was asked which Big 12 coach he would want to read him a bedtime story. His answer: Charlie Strong. pic.twitter.com/ZRrNMtkD4G

Welp. That's Day One. Media Days are a stupid oasis of....something....in the middle of the Offseason desert. Enjoy it for what it was and get ready for the Fall. You can't take a damn thing from any of this so let's just appreciate some good one liners.
As always, keep Tweeting, and Let's Go Mountaineers.
