The update today is going to be on the very brief end of the spectrum because for the most part things have been very quiet, but also things were a little busier on my end. Spring ball is in full swing and the staff has all its focus on the players currently on the roster and developing the talent they have, as it should be. There are going to be several exciting battles this year with the depth chart fair open as of now, particularly on the offensive side. The 2016 class has not had any new recruits as of now but there was a late addition to the 2015 class that was recently announced.
Devan Wade officially announced that he is committing to WVU as a preferred walk-on and plans to earn his way to a scholarship. Wade is a smaller running back that fits the mold of a Steve Slaton-type of back. He had several smaller offers but choose WVU for the chance to play big-time ball and I like his chances to break into rotation in a year or two or at least provide some decent depth. He has a solid highlight reel and it will be interesting how he can fit into the Mountaineers' offense with his ability to shake defenders and get to the edge.
Wade is definitely going to be a great late-addition and with really only three true running backs on the roster, his legs will be a welcome addition. This is a good pick-up for the staff and Wade has real sleeper potential.
