Baylor Throttles Mountaineers 87-69

Baylor was too much for the Mountaineers, who fell to 18-5 on the season, 6-4 in the Big 12.

Five Baylor Bears scored in double figures as the Mountaineers dropped another ugly one in Morgantown. WVU scored quickly after the opening tip, immediately forced a timeout on the inbounds and from there it was all downhill. Baylor then took the ball and ran with it building a 23-3 lead at the 11:04 mark in the first half before Devin Williams finally scored a field goal to break the drought.

The Mountaineers would eventually get their footing a bit and teased us by cutting the lead to 14 and hanging around there for a bit, but Baylor's Rico Gathers was too much of a presence for the Bears. Baskets were easy to come by for Baylor and near impossible it seemed for the Mountaineers, who continued the season-long trend of missed layup after missed layup. Baylor shot nearly 55% for the game while limiting WVU to 36.4%.

On the day, only Devin Williams, Daxter Miles and Jevon Carter managed double figures. WVU now sits in a three-way tie for third in the Big 12, pending more results later Saturday.

WVU will be back in action in Morgantown on Wednesday against the Kansas State Wildcats. That game will be at 7 pm on ESPNU.
