DB Tyrek Cole Is Officially A West Virginia Mountaineer

This Miramar HS product is one of the highest rated for West Virginia's 2015 recruiting class.

SB Nation Recruiting

Cornerback Tyrek Cole is a West Virginia Mountaineer. This 5'11, 170 lbs. Miramar star committed back in January after his December official visit and looks to be one of the crowned jewels of this recruiting class.

Cole is listed as a 4-star prospect across the board by 247Sports, Rivals, and Scout including making the Rivals Top 250 list at #207. Tyrek is rated as the nation's sixth top CB and could easily be in the secondary rotation Week 1 against Georgia Southern on September 5th. While his senior year stats are quite impressive recording 26 tackles, 22 pass-breakups, an interception, and a fumble recovery while also returning kickoffs and punts, it must be mentioned that there have been character issues surrounding Cole since the beginning of his recruitment.

Back in September, Tyrek was suspended the day after flipping to West Virginia from previously committing to Florida State after a classroom fight. He was then reinstated onto the team after sitting out two games and "handling his suspension properly," but misdemeanor charges were filed against him that ended up costing Cole his spot in the Under Armour game.

It is no secret that Tyrek is able to immediately give WVU support in the defensive backfield as soon as he steps on campus. We just hope he's able to stay on track both on and off the field.
