Rob Dowdy, an Offensive Lineman out of Westerville South High School in Ohio, submitted his letter of intent to play football at West Virginia University today. Dowdy is a 3 star recruit on 24/7, Rivals and Scout and is listed at 6'6" 280lbs. This mountain of a man was recruited by Ron Crook and had a plethora of other offers. The other schools vying for his talents were: Arkansas, Boston College, Cincinnati, Georgia Tech, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisville, Miami, Michigan State, Minnesota, NC State, and Pittsburgh.
Dowdy played Tackle and Guard in high school and is the #4 OT in Ohio. In September, Dowdy committed to Pitt before coming to his senses in December. As of January, he had seen the light and decided to make Morgantown his home for the next few years.
