WVU Football: Mountaineers Get Instant D-Line Help With Graduate Transfer Shaquille Riddick

FCS All-American defensive end Shaquille Riddick will transfer to West Virginia, and is eligible to play immediately.

A position that projected to be one of the weak spots on the 2014 Mountaineer football team received a shot in the arm Friday, when FCS All-American defensive end Shaquille Riddick announced he will transfer to West Virginia University.  He will be eligible to play immediately as a graduate transfer.

Last year for Gardner-Webb, Riddick had 67 total tackles, including 19 tackles for loss (2nd in FCS) and 8.5 sacks (19th in FCS). He and the Runnin' Bulldogs faced an opponent that the Mountaineers know all about, Marshall, and  Riddick had three tackles for loss and 2 sacks against the Herd in a blowout loss.

Riddick will be expected to come in and contribute immediately, replacing 3 year starter and 3rd round draft pick Will Clarke.  Considered a possible NFL draft prospect himself, Riddick (6'6, 244 lbs) will be a welcome addition for new defensive line coach Tom Bradley.

He has a pretty impressive highlight video:

Welcome aboard, Mr. Riddick & welcome home!
