West Virginia Women's Soccer Wins Second Consecutive Big 12 Tournament Title

After winning the last three regular season titles, the Lady Mountaineers added two consecutive Big 12 Tournament titles.

The ninth ranked West Virginia women's soccer team won its second Big 12 title in a row. WVU also won its 18th straight game of the season, a program record.

The Mountaineers defeated the Oklahoma Sooners 1-0 in Kansas City. The 1-0 win over the Sooners is the fourth straight conference championship game shutout for head coach Nikki Izzo-Brown and the Mountaineers.

This is the programs second straight Big 12 championship title that goes along with its three straight Big 12 regular season titles. With tonights win, the Mountaineer have won their 7th straight conference title (4 Big East, 3 Big 12).

Senior Forward Kate Schwindel scored the lone goal for the Mountaineers in the 13th minute. She injured her thigh later in the first half and did not return to the game.

Sophomore Defenseman Kadeisha Buchanan won the Big 12 Tournament Defensive MVP while fellow sophomore Ashley Lawrence won the Big 12 Tournament Offensive MVP. Both Buchanan and Lawrence are from Canada.
