WV Moonshiner maintains the contest lead, while JP Fanshawe retakes the overall lead. Don't look now, but yours truly is making the staff standings interesting again.

Perhaps hidden behind the sadness and myopia that last week's loss caused is the fact that our defense gave up just 14 points off of five turnovers, four of which came in WVU's own territory, and that was against a better offense than Texas has. The Longhorns are 104th in yards per point and I expect our defense to make points hard to come by for them. The offense gets back on track, and Kevin White gets back to double-digit catches.

Texas is playing better, and WVU will have a little bit of a hangover from last week's devastating loss. The good guys get a scare but hang on for the victory.

WVU jumps out quickly and never looks back. The offense gets back on track and the defense continues to play lights out. A late score by Texas reduces the margin of victory, but doesn't take away from WVU's impressive bounce back.

WVU's defense plays with a vengeance and Clint Trickett goes back to his bread and butter by throwing to White over and over. Texas is never in the game and Charlie Strong is sad.

It will be interesting to see how WVU recovers after such a body blow. If they can get past Texas it sets them up to be in a good place for a huge game against Kansas State. At this point I've seen Clint Trickett fade 2 weeks in a row so I'm not at all convinced by the WVU offense. I see a lot of work for Josh Lambert in their future (#GiveHimTheGroza). On the other side of the coin I'm a 100% believer that Texas won't be able to handle the Mountaineer D. WVU escapes with an ugly win.
