Beyond the commitment of Xavier Pegues last week, recruiting has been fairly quiet for the Mountaineers. But if you look at the class all of the sudden you understand way. The Mountaineers' 2015 class is solid. If they called it a day right now and stopped recruiting kids it would still be solid. But I would expect a few more speed guys and maybe one or two lineman, likely JUCOs or Jamie Herr. Jordan Cronkrite is very much in the picture still and Coach Seider is doing a great job of recruiting him. Also a lot of 2016 kids are starting to get recruited harder as the coaching staff is in a great place to do that. In fact, expect a few big name 2016 recruits in the stand for the KSU game this evening. A strong showing tonight could do a lot to keep this class together and build momentum for the 2015-2016 recruiting cycle. But despite however tonight turns out, WVU has a very solid class with all the players firmly committed to being Mountaineers, which hopefully should hold true through February. If even if there are not any more additions to the class (though, there will be), and WVU gets all of these guys to sign, the class will be considered an all-around success.
Total number of Commitments: 22
Average Class Ranking: 22nd in the nation
Tyrek Cole - CB
Height/Weight: 5'11.5"/170 lbs.
Composite Ranking: 4 Star Prospect-0.9532
- Cole is a long, exceptionally quick CB with advanced coverage skills. Just say thank you Coach Cogdell and keep your fingers crossed that nothing keeps him from suiting up for WVU.
Jovon Durante - WR
Height/Weight: 6'0"/162 lbs.
Composite Ranking: 4 Star Prospect-0.9371
- Durante is currently the highest ranked Mountaineer commit and the possibilities are dazzling when imagining his skill-set in the Mountaineers' Air Raid attack. However, WVU will have a long battle ahead to fend off a plethora of interested programs between now and signing day to secure his talents.
The rankings of the recruits were taken from the 247 Composite Rankings, which provides an average ranking from the four major recruiting services (ESPN, 247 Sports, Rivals, and Scout). The height and weight measurements were also taken from 247 Sports and can vary between different recruiting services; e.g., Kendrell McFadden, who ranges from 6'4" to 6'1" depending upon the site. The recruits listed are currently verbally committed to the Mountaineers. The list does not include recruits who currently have WVU as a top option but have not made a decision, recruits who were committed and decommitted, or recruits that the staff is pursuing the hardest right now.
