Kansas State Blows Out West Virginia 78-56

It was probably even uglier than the score suggests.

Scott Sewell-USA TODAY Sports

The worst shooting team in the Big 12 found their stroke against a WVU team that looked lost for the better part of the day as K State dumped West Virginia 78-56. Easy bucket after easy bucket fell for the Wildcats as the Mountaineers struggled on the defensive end. In losing by the largest margin of the season, the WVU defense allowed K State to shoot 55% from the floor.

Kansas State's Octagon of Doom certainly lived up to its name for the Mountaineers who found themselves down by double digits quickly to the Wildcats and they were never able to recover. In addition to the defensive lapses, it was another cold shooting afternoon for WVU, hitting less than a third of their shots, including a paltry 26.7% from three point land.

Normally, we just list the double figure scorers, but with only six players scoring on the day, we might as well list them all. Eron Harris contributed 21 points to the cause with Juwan Staten chipping in 16. From there it gets ugly quick: Williams had 9, Browne had 6, then Henderson and Noreen each had 2.

It's looking more and more like the results of last season are rearing their head again. It has to get better, right?

West Virginia is back in action at the Coliseum on Wednesday to take on Texas Tech at 8 pm.
