West Virginia Announces Football Series With Penn State

Home and home series to kick off the 2023 & 2024 seasons

Oliver Luck and the West Virginia University Athletic Department just officially announced what has been rumored for quite some time. There will be a two game resumption of the football series between Penn State and West Virginia beginning in 2023. The home and home series will look to kick off the 2023 and 2024 seasons respectively. The September 2, 2023, contest will be held in Happy Valley and the following season's matchup will be held on August 31, 2024, in Morgantown.

The two programs have faced each other a total of 59 times, with Penn State holding a sizable advantage of 48-9-2 in the series. The last meeting between the two schools was in 1992, with Penn State claiming a 40-26 victory in Morgantown. This was one of the first rivalry series-es to be lost to conference realignment when Penn State left the ranks of the independents to join the Big 10.
